Motorola Droid Ultra specs and images revealed in leak

It may not be the Moto X, but since Motorolahas been slacking with Android devices lately, any Motorola leak is at least somewhat interesting and suggests there’s progress being made at Google. Indeed, EvLeaks got its hands on some photos of the Motorola Droid Ultra as well as the upcoming specs.
As you can see pictured above, Google hasn’t changed anything about Motorola’s Droiddesign style which is still very much robotic. The only noticeable difference is that all the branding — Verizon, Motorola, and Droid — are all on the back of the phone, leaving the front to be consumed by the display.
That Droid Ultra display, by the way, is apparently 5 inches. Inside is a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM on board. The camera will be a large 10MP shooter and include a sensor for improved white balance and exposure and increased capture time.
Additionally, the Droid Ultra probably won’t be the only handset to get churned out of Motorolasoon. The Ultra is expected to get released alongside a larger Droid Ultra Maxx and a smallerDroid Ultra Mini. A Motorola event is already planned for July 11th and since we already know that there won’t be any Moto X news quite yet, the new Motorola Droid Ultra line could hog all the spotlight.
Stay tuned for all the imminent announcements. It looks like Motorola is planning to make 2013 its comeback year.

Are these the front and back panels of the heroic Moto X?

Motorola still hasn't shown off its next flagship, the Moto X, but the Android phone's front and back panels appear to have surfaced in a good ol' fashioned leak anyway.
Shots of the Moto X's detached face and backside appeared on G for Games, which hollered out that the Moto X is "a new concept" for a smartphone.
The Moto X is expected to kickstart a new era for Motorola under Google with unprecedented levels of customization, though so far we've only heard word of cosmetic customization and not the ability to mix and match internal specs or software.
Those looking for it on Thursday may be disappointed however, asAllThingsD reported an event being held by Motorola adviser Guy Kawasaki that day is a private affair and not meant to herald the debut of the new flagship.
The Moto X has been called "the first smartphone you can design yourself," though again it's not yet confirmed just what that means.
Kawasaki previously suggested that you can customize the Moto X like a classic Porsche, and a pouring of information from last week suggested consumers will be able to choose from a palate of colors as well as have engravings carved on the back.

The panels shown off in these leaks are reportedly all for the Moto X, despite the two front panels - white and black - looking somewhat different. The logo appears on the black one, for example, but not on the white.
The back panel (below) appears to be made of a soft, rubbery material, though that may turn out to be a customizable feature of the Moto X.

Motorola's hero

If there's one thing that's not customizable on the Moto X, it may be the device's specs; a previous leak suggested that it will sport a 1.7GHz dual core MSM8960 Pro chip, a 720p display, 2GB of memory, 16GB of storage, 10- and 2-megapixel back and front cameras, and Android 4.2.2.

The Moto X was previously referred to as the Motorola X Phone, but Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside revealed its real name in May.
That's when he called it Motorola's next "hero" phone, adding to the belief that the Moto X will be a major milestone for the company and its Google overlords.

Verizon Droid Xyboards To Get Android 4.1 Update

According to the official Motorola update page, the Verizon-branded DROID XYBOARD tablets will be getting updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Both the 10.1 and 8.2-inch slates.

However, the WiFi models might not enjoy such luxuries. Wait what? Yes you read that right. Usually Wifi tablets get updated much quicker than any carrier branded tablet (or phone) and sometimes WiFi tablets get updated while a carrier model never enjoys the update at all. Oddly we’re seeing just the opposite today for those DROID-flavored tablets.
Motorola recently changed their product page, stating that the Verizon DROID XYBOARD tablets will both be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Previously the page had them slated for no updates with it reading “This device will remain on Android 4.0 (ICS)” and that’s all she wrote. Then below, it shows the WiFi model as staying on ICS, and not received Jelly Bean. That’s just odd, and probably wrong.

According to AndroidPolice Verizon has confirmed the update is indeed coming soon, however no date was given. So for all of you still enjoying those industrial looking DROID XYBOARD tablets, get ready for a nice update full of new features. Google Now, gesture typing, a better camera and more is all headed your way. Eventually.

The Motorola Xyboard tablets come in 10.1″ and 8.2″ sizes, both feature identical design language and internal specifications. The 10.1″ has an obviously larger display and a bigger battery. Verizon did launch both of these tablets, but rebranded them as Droid Xyboard 10.1 and Droid Xyboard 8.2. Motorola has updated the status of both Verizon tablets, revealing that they will be receiving Android 4.1 update. However the other three variants of these tablets, which are not Verizon branded, will not get the update and they will retain Android 4.0.4. Verizon has reportedly confirmed that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is indeed coming over for both Droid Xyboards, but it is said to have not provided a concrete release time-frame. It is a bit unorthodox to see a carrier branded device receiving a major firmware update while the manufacturer’s Wi-Fi variant of the same device is being left out of the fray. Its usually the other way around, with the Wi-Fi version being the first to receive an update. Motorola may very well change its mind and release the update for its Xyboards, but that seems to be a long shot.: http://www.ubergizmo.com/2013/06/verizon-droid-xyboards-to-get-android-4-1-update/
